Shirley Hayes an Arts & Crafts teacher and former Moorcroft Pottery designer and paintress for 14 years has set up her studio in Stoke-on-Trent, Staffordshire.
Born in Stockport, Cheshire the middle child of five, Shirley gained an OND in Surface Pattern Design at Stockport College of Technology followed by a degree in Surface Pattern Design at Stoke-on-Trent Polytechnic. After graduating in 1990 she continued to live in Stoke-on-Trent up to 2010 when she moved to Richmond, North Yorkshire were she still lives with her family.

Shirley began at Moorcroft Pottery in spring 1992, as a paintress. Then after a couple of years started creating designs such as “Daisy from Amsterdam”, “Rainbow Tropics” and “Secrete Garden” for the May open weekend. During the summer of 1999 she created her first Moorcroft range, Palmata. This was quickly followed by Pheasants Eye (Adonis), Venice, & Saadian to name but a few.
In 2005 Shirley left Moorcroft Pottery she now runs Arts & Crafts classes for all ages.
